The Finnish maternity box is known worldwide for supporting families at the start of parenthood. This project builds on that idea by bringing the same care and attention into an often overlooked area: oral health during pregnancy.

The Oral Maternity Box was created for first-time mothers and families visiting the dentist during pregnancy or early parenthood. Hormonal changes during pregnancy can increase the risk of gum inflammation and oral infections, which may affect both maternal wellbeing and the health of the baby. Regular dental check-ups and good oral hygiene are therefore especially important during this time.

The purpose of the box is to gently raise awareness, start conversation, and support everyday oral care in a positive and non-alarming way. Rather than focusing on risks, the concept emphasizes care, wellbeing, and shared responsibility — one mouth, two lives.

The visual language is playful, soft, and approachable, designed to lower the threshold for engagement while remaining clear and informative. The illustration style supports the message with warmth and simplicity, making the topic easy to approach and remember.
